Declan Little is currently the Ecological Lead with Coillte Nature, a unit within Coillte dedicated to not-for-profit projects of scale focused on biodiversity enhancement, ecological restoration and climate mitigation. He is the scientific lead and is responsible for identifying projects, developing proposals, and overseeing the implementation from a technical/scientific perspective. Ensuring that the ecological integrity of projects and adherence to best practice are key during project development and implementation.
Previously Declan worked for nearly 20 years as Project manager for Woodlands of Ireland, a technical environmental NGO dedicated to developing and promoting initiatives on native woodlands. He was closely involved in developing the People’s Millennium Forests project and the Native Woodland Scheme in partnership with native woodland stakeholders. Previous to that he studied native woodlands to post-doctoral level for nearly ten years at UCD.
