The Shaking Bog Podcast is re-emerging in late springtime to explore a precious woodland that lies at the bottom of the Glencree Valley. Adjoining the beautiful village of Enniskerry, on the banks of the Glencullen River, Knocksink Wood is a designated SAC (Special Area of Conservation) that provides a remarkable and accessible resource.

This podcast was recorded amidst the trees of Knocksink Wood against a backdrop of birdsong, the scent of wild garlic and the budding foliage of a new season. Our guests include renowned filmmaker, cameraman and presenter, Colin Stafford Johnson, the acclaimed poet Moya Cannon and the extraordinary folk musician John Francis Flynn.

Colin Stafford Johnson is one of the best known faces on Irish Television, Colin has most recently been on our screens presenting The Wild Gardener on BBC Two – filmed at his home in Co. Wicklow, Ireland - and Wild Cuba: A Caribbean Journey. Over the course of his career Colin has won multiple awards and accolades for his work as a wildlife cinematographer and presenter including an Emmy in 2006, the Grand Teton award at Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival and TV’s highest accolade the WWF Golden Panda award at Wildscreen.

John Francis Flynn is a singer and multi-instrumentalist whose work centres around traditional and folk material from Ireland. He is a founding member of the band, Skipper’s Alley, with whom he has toured extensively throughout Europe and America. Signed to Rough Trade’s imprint label River Lea, John released his debut album “I Would Not Live Always” in Spring 2021 to widespread acclaim. (@johnfrancisflynnmusic)

Moya Cannon is an Irish poet. She was born in Co. Donegal and now lives in Dublin. Her work reflects a wide range of interests: music, history, migration, archaeology, geology and our long relationship to our earth and seas. Her sixth collection is Donegal Tarantella, Carcanet Press, 2019 and her Collected Poems were published by Carcanet Press in February 2021. (https://moyacannon.ie)
