Artist and Forest Schools leader, Liz McMahon will join with Knocksink Wood NPWS Guides, Wendy Gillisen and Laura Rosa Regalado Rocha to lead a workshop for parents and children, exploring the interdependence of life in the woodland, looking in particular at The Insect and The Oak Tree. Natural materials such as blackberries, oak galls, alder cones etc will be used to create pigments and dyes and these will in turn be used to explore drawing, painting, dying and printing to create original artworks. The workshop will include a guided tour of Knocksink Wood, a Special Area of Conservation, to look at where some of these materials grow and talk about how they support each other to create a healthy ecosystem.
