Bryophytes include the mosses and liverworts that carpet so much of Ireland’s ground, providing the building blocks for a healthy ecosystem. Ecological Consultant and Botanist, Dr Joanne Denyer is one of Ireland’s few Bryophyte specialists. She will lead a nature trail from Knockree Hostel to the Glencree River, identifying and talking about the mosses seen along the way, as well as other botanical species that play a crucial role in forming and maintaining healthy soils.
Easy to moderate trail. Uneven ground. Sturdy footwear essential. Dress for all weathers. No dogs (except guide dogs) are permitted. Leave no trace. Please check Plan Your Visit for site information.
